BKS Iyengar developed Iyengar Yoga through a lifetime of dedication to the study of yoga. He passed away in 2010 at the age of 92, having passed on his knowledge and wisdom through his lineage of family and teachers from India and across the globe. Today, we still learn directly from his teachings through his many written texts and classes and workshops from rigorously trained teachers.
Iyengar Yoga is a tradition and authentic form of yoga which focuses on precision in poses with intricate instructions to guide the practitioner safely to fully realise their potential. With the use of props, such as belts, blocks, bricks and blankets, asanas (postures) are explored in a variety of ways, making it accessible to people of all shapes, sizes, ages, fitness, flexibility and experience.
